Jo Daviess County: Forest Management Planning

  • February 17, 2017
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Galena Territory

NIFA kicks off the 2017 series of events with a tour of an oak regeneration site, on Friday, February 17th, at 1 pm with Jeff Harris, IDNR District Forester.

We will meet at a prime oak site in the Galena Territory to discuss the forest management plan writing process: landowner goals, forest inventory, plan writing, management prescriptions, cost sharing/funding opportunities. Onsite, we will observe a forest management plan already in the implementation phase with the goal of naturally regenerating oak and increasing overall bio-diversity. So far, the site has been thinned and prescribe burned.

The event starts at the Owner’s Club in the Galena Territory, 2000 Territory Drive, Galena.  From the Owner’s Club parking lot, we will car pool over to the management site which is just a 2 minute drive but parking is limited. Those leaving a car behind will be issued a temporary parking pass.

Members are encouraged to attend; the public is welcome; and even IFA members may attend.
