Jo Daviess County: Managing Forest Understory and Edges

The University of Illinois Extension, with support from the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association, is presenting two half-day sessions addressing how to meet your forestry goals by managing the forest understory and forestry edges.  These sessions will be on Friday, January 18th, 2019, at the Elizabeth Community Center on Hwy 20 in Elizabeth, Illinois.

The morning session "Understanding the Issues and Setting Goals" from 9 until 11:30 am is geared to those woodland owners looking for a starting place for forest management.  It will cover invasive species of concern for NW Illinois, the importance of forest edge management, and where to find resources to help.

The afternoon session "Taking Action To Meet Your Goals" from 1:30 until 4 pm will cover how to fight a winning battle against invasive species, the role of prescribed burning, and the next steps.

Fetaured speakers are Chris Evans, U of I Extension Forestry Specialist, and Ryan Harr, Ioowa DNR Special Projects Biologist.
